Building a Better World — Stitch by Stitch
This May at Nest, we shine a special spotlight on brands with a mission to empower female artisans, end poverty, and eliminate the epidemic of human trafficking.
SUDARA — ARTISAN LOUNGEWEAR
Each year, millions of women and children are trafficked into sexual exploitation in India. Sudara is working to change this by providing hope and opportunity through living-wage jobs, skills training, and education. This change is possible because customers are purchasing Sudara goods and making donations to Sudara Freedom Fund.
ALL ACROSS AFRICA — SWEETGRASS BASKETS
All Across Africa aims to reduce the rate of poverty in central African countries by offering safe and sustainable careers to rural artisans.
GOOD PAPER — HANDMADE GREETING CARDS
Good Paper provides employment opportunities to women who have escaped sex trafficking in the Philippines and young adults orphaned by disease in Rwanda. The result is a wonderful array of fair-trade greeting cards – each handcrafted and signed by its creator.
GLOBAL GIRLFRIEND — CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES
Global Girlfriend was founded by Stacey Edgar in 2003 to help women worldwide gain economic security while providing unique products and a simple way to help women in need.
These companies positively impact communities around the world. Stop by our shop to contribute to these amazing causes, and join us for the entire month of May in celebrating artisans across the globe.
